Dear Fresher,
We sincerely wish you all the best on the doorstep of those new phase in your growth and career path! We hope that you can look back on these days and see them as cornerstones towards achieving your aspirations and becoming nothing short of your best!
But most importantly we hope that through your education you will realise always more that YOU CAN! After all we have been all promised that we are here not just to live but “to live with joy and abundance!(John 10:10). Joy and Abundance that can only reach us through words and actions of each and every one of us!
How can we not be grateful for your choice to proceed in your studies! Choosing to develop our strengths is the start of a journey that will see you sharing your passion, knowledge and skills with the community!
In our parish work, but especially in parish djakonija work (work amongst the needy) we couldn’t see this clearer! There is potential for Joy and Fulfillness in every one of us, but we also depend on each other to discover that joy and fulfilness in everyday life, through each others stregths, weaknesses, good times and less good ones (dare i mention test week at this point:)).
As parishes we seek to do our best to build communities under the leadership and guidance of our parish priests. Strong communities! So whatever your endeavour please consider us as your partner. Whether as a place to find an understanding friend, or a space to shine your light to support others, count on us!
Indeed you might already be one of us. Whether by supporting family members or promoting support in your own workplace or sparing some time to pray for all …your efforts might be hidden but are not unaccounted for!
You’re doing djakonija just as much as we are! And we appreciate time can somewhat be limited. If however you find it in your heart (and schedule) to offer some help, even a few hours every month can be precious! Not to mention our wish for you to choose us for one of the voluntary experiences you’ll be required to do as part of your studies!

We would like to tell you more about our endeavours in the hope that either as colleagues or collaborators from other entities we may know each other and reach the needy more efficiently!
You can choose to join one of our meetings or just let us know of your interest and we will contact you personally!

We are always on the lookout to widen our operations and reach the needy, and help them stand back on their two feet.
Doing this in a dignified way includes making it organically through the community.

Djako – What?!*
It is indeed a strange word
but full of meaning!
In reality its much closer to home than it portrays itself to be!
It means caring for each other as brothers and sisters…
…but also so much more.

Kċina ta’ Marta
At Kcina ta’ Marta we cook around a 1000 meals a week. These are in turn delivered with love by our volunteers to housebound people in need, referred to us by social professionals
Loop Shop
At Loop Clothes Shop in
Melita street Valletta every clothing item is 5 euros.
These pre-loved clothes are chosen for quality and washed at our laundry prior to being put on our shelves.
You might also buy vouchers for family and friends.
We also give free vouchers to social professionals to help people choose their clothing even if they cannot afford it!

Għażiż/a,
Sinċerament nawgurawlkom l-aħjar fuq l-għatba ta’ din il-fażi ġdida f’ħajtek! Nittamaw li tkun tista’ tħares lura lejn dawn il-jiem u tarahom bħala pedamenti li għenuk tilħaq l-aspirazzjonijiet tiegħek u ssir xejn inqas mill-aqwa li tista tkun!
Imma l-aktar importanti nittamaw li permezz tal-edukazzjoni tiegħek tirrealizza dejjem aktar li INT TISTA’! Wara kollox konna lkoll imwiegħda li qegħdin hawn mhux biss biex ngħixu imma “biex l-ħajja u l-ħajja bil-kotra!”(Ġw 10:10). Ħajja bil-kotra tfisser ferħ ġewwieni li jista jasal għandna biss permezz tal-kliem u l-azzjonijiet ta’ kull wieħed u waħda minna!
Kif nistgħu ma nkunux grati għall-għażla tiegħek li tipproċedi fl-istudji tiegħek! L-għażla li timpenja ruħek biex tiżviluppa is-saħħiet tiegħek hija l-bidu ta’ vjaġġ li se jarak taqsam il-passjoni, l-għarfien u l-ħiliet tiegħek mal-komunità!
Fil-ħidma parrokkjali tagħna, imma speċjalment fil-ħidma tad-djakonija parrokkjali (fost nies li jsibu riħhom fil-bżonn) dan nistgħux narawh aktar ċar! Hemm potenzjal għall-ħajja bil-kotra f’kull wieħed minna, imma aħna niddependu wkoll minn xulxin biex niskopru dak il-ferħ u s-sodisfazzjon fil-ħajja ta’ kuljum, permezz tas-saħħiet u d-dgħufijiet taghna, fi żminijiet tajbin u inqas tajbin li żgur ngħaddu minnhom (nazzarda nsemmi l-eżamijiet f’dan il-punt:)).
Bħala parroċċi nfittxu li nagħmlu l-almu tagħna biex nibnu komunitajiet taħt it-tmexxija u l-gwida tal-kappillani tagħna. Komunitajiet b’saħħithom! Allura jkun xi jkun il-ħsieb tiegħek jekk jogħġbok tikkunsidrana bħala kollegi u ħbieb pjaċir nieħdu! Nixtiequ noffrulek spazju biex d-dawl tal-ħiliet tiegħek jkun ta’ appoġġ għall-oħrajn, ingħaqad magħna!
Tabilħaqq forsi diġà int/intom wieħed/wahda/wħud minna! Kemm jekk tgħinu lill-membri tal-familja jew tippromwovu sens ta komunita’ fuq il-post tax-xogħol tagħkom…jew forsi tfittex li ssib ftit ħin biex titlob għal kulħadd…l-isforzi tiegħek jistgħu jkunu moħbija iżda m’humiex mitlufa! Int/om qed taghmel/tagħmlu djakonija daqsna!
Fuq kollox napprezzaw li l-ħin jista ‘jkun kemmxejn limitat. Madankollu jekk f’qalbek tħoss li tista toffri xi għajnuna, anke ftit sigħat kull xahar jistgħu jkunu prezzjużi!
Biex ma nsemmux ix-xewqa tagħna li inti tagħżel lilna għal waħda mill-esperjenzi ta’ volontarjat li tkun mitlub tagħmel bħala parti mill-istudji tiegħek!
